Heirs.

I decided to give Korean Drama's a go and saw a friend talk about this show so I decided to check it out. Before watching I felt it might be like a Korean version of Gossip Girl. Maybe not quite so far but I am really liking it. Watched 4 episodes already. This was my Korean studying for the night. Can't really learn many new words or phrases but it's nice when I recognize something!

Learning Hangul (한글) resources!

안녕하세요!

Learning 한글 is easy as you may or may not have heard. I think it took me a day or too however the hard part for me is not learning the consonants and vowels but my brain quickly remembering without having to stare for 10 seconds. So I've been trying to constantly refresh my brain of the symbols so that I can read 한글 faster. Here are a few of the resources I've used to learn and study 한글.

1. BusyAtom Youtube - Really good. I used his youtube videos in conjunction with an app on more phone and both made my learning experience quick and easy.
2. TenguGo Hangul - this is an app I downloaded on my phone (Android). It is very good in my opinion and even have little quizzes to test yourself.
3. Click Korean - just came across this one today and I really like it. Especially how for some of the sounds it actually shows a person's mouth so that you can see how the shape of you mouth should be when pronouncing the symbols.  Providing to be great as a refresher.
4. Talk to me in Korean - I haven't used this one but I have no doubt that it's good.
5. Korean Wiki Project - used this in the beginning as well. Very good and love how I could practice what I learned with all the different word examples.

Things I am currently studying.

  • Typing in Hanguel (한글 ) . I'm trying to type without having to look at my onscreen keyboard to remember where each specific one is. This is fun.
  • Just finished Level 1 at Talk to me in Korean. I thought I had comprehended things well however my listening skills suck and when I listen to the Level 1 complete Korean dialogue I barely understand 15% of it. So I'm constantly replaying it until I at least understand 80%
  • Also reviewing everything from Level 1.

안녕하세유! Annyeonghaseyo! Hi! Hello!

안녕하세유!

Hi. My name is Precious. So this blog is really just me and my thoughts about this journey that I started a few weeks ago. I'm teaching myself Korean. I aspire to teach Korean abroad in the next year or so and because of that I want to learn the Korean language and all that involves the korean culture! I'm a beginner and I want to document my journey hear. All of my hiccups, hardships, accomplishments, milestones, etc. I think this is going to be a fun journey. It's like having another class - being that I'm in grad school. Just one that I don't have to force myself to do the homework to because I really want to learn! I'm not really looking to have people follow this blog or even read it but if you do stop by feel free to say hi (in Korean if you can!).

More to come soon of my journey these past few weeks but now off to study before bed!

xxoo, Pree.
